Pilot projects and trial projects are basically a way of saying "This is what's going to happen, so I'll pretend I care what you have to say so you feel better while we jerk you around"

As an RN, who already works short almost every shift, who is already overwhelmed with how to manage 6-10 patients each shift in a responsible, safe and effective way... I am terrified to imagine what these changes will mean for my patients. I guaruntee, this will absolutely mean an increase in adverse reactions for our patients and all we can do is sit back and watch it happen. So sad. Our opinions are politely asked for and then quickly discarded all the while hoping we get that warm, fuzzy feeling that we have been a integral part of things here.

As for lean?? Most areas I have seen revert back to their original status quo as front line staff know what works. People who sit in offices and then blow in for a few days thinking they can streamline things do not.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6435338449263770326.post-22445294470402576722012-12-05T13:20:14.888-05:002012-12-05T13:20:14.888-05:00Introduce user fees as a way to generate revenue a...Introduce user fees as a way to generate revenue and to deter unneccessary visits to doctors offices, emergency departments and for second opinions for minor conditions eg: pregnancy, tonsillectomies etc. More media coverage and information provided to the public to encourage them to use their family doctors and walk in clinics as opposed to coming to emergency for very minor problems. More teaching from family doctors to parents on how to deal with minor childhood illnesses such as fevers, etc at home as opposed to running to hospital for every sniffle and cough!! 24 hour walk in clinics where they can suture and cast simple fractures. It amazes me that because we are so top heavy we are in so much debt. Those people on that list use at least half the annual operating budget. I am shocked that not one of the suggestions is to cut those costs. And the people who decide our demise are the ones causing so much of the debt. The sad thing in all of this is that it is our future health care that is being affected. Lets all applaud those in charge!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6435338449263770326.post-5769909249497898212012-11-30T20:18:40.345-05:002012-11-30T20:18:40.345-05:00The blog is excellent and illuminating;what is req...The blog is excellent and illuminating;what is required are multiple satellite outpatient facilities in association with the"main central hospital".The outpatient satellites can do certain procedures at a cheaper cost, with greater precision and efficiency than the"mother hospital" which is bound by stricter rules and regulations which are not necessarily applicable to the outcome of many procedures. It is high time to start the process with certain pilot projects;eye procedures can be done with great efficiency and at a cheaper cost than in a general hospital;the soul, which can be easily overlooked in a busy hospital environment, can be more readily addressed in an outpatient satellite setting resulting in a more satisfied patient and patient and family experience.Albert Cheskesnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6435338449263770326.post-608107033888372542012-11-30T12:50:35.188-05:002012-11-30T12:50:35.188-05:00Front line workers are essential

I stand educated of the various themes available to us to embrace and work towards solutions.
As an employee in a hospital during these difficult fiscal challenges, one's overriding concern would be the instability. As restructuring layoffs loom, staff morale inevitably dips and the obvious effect of that is a less than optimal output at work. When that happens, we would set off a negative cycle of events that impact productivity at the micro level. This will ultimately affect the very remedies that are put in place to get us out of this financial mess.
It is our, the employee's, call to apply ourselves more diligently to our tasks while guidance exists through the remarkably well disseminated lean philosophies at Rouge to contribute towards the difficult climb to fiscal comfort. This must happen in spite of the uneasy volatility that we find ourselves in.
It appears that if we are not part of planning and preparing the recipe, we will find ourselves on the menu!Thomas P Thurairatnamnoreply@blogger.com
